Through our SIMOSA App, we collect personal information to provide a tailored and efficient user experience. This includes, where applicable, your name, mobile number, optional entries such as date of birth, gender and physical address, along with technical data like usage patterns, device specifics, and operating system details. We also gather data related to notification permissions, voluntary picture uploads, service and interface usage habits, error logs, subscription details, and payment instrument details. For users engaging in transactions, we securely hash payment information, streamlining the payment process and enhancing your app experience.

 

How We Collect your information

We collect and process data when you:

  • Register and interact with our App.
  • Voluntarily complete a customer or in-app survey or provide feedback or complaints via any of our message boards or email.

How We Use Your Information

  • We analyze preferences and usage patterns to tailor the app experience. This includes customer profiling, providing customer support and managing subscription processes.
  • We may collect location data for geo-fencing, enhancing your interaction with our services.
  • Complaints submitted through the app are saved along with your MSISDN and voluntarily provided location details, then forwarded to our back office for resolution.
  • For those observing Ramadan, we store chosen cities and Fiqh to send relevant Namaz and Sehri/Iftar alerts, while enabling GPS for Qibla direction without storing this information.
  • We securely store financial transaction data, maintain records for balance sharing, and enable bill viewing and payment functionalities, which are facilitated through an API from BSS. We also offer the option to save payment information in a hashed form for convenience in future transactions.
  • Users have access to their call, SMS, data, recharge and package history for the last seven days and can generate and store tax certificates for selected fiscal years.
  • Our ‘My World & Discount’ section uses mobile GPS to provide location-based services and offers. We also store personal data like your social circle details and provide AI-generated bundle options based on the information you provide.

We ensure that the data we collect is kept secure and is used in full compliance with applicable laws, only sharing with third parties when necessary to provide the services as described or when legally required. These services are responsible for securely managing user data, libraries, metadata and for delivering real-time updates that enable instant content addition and seamless interaction. Your media files are stored and securely delivered and with robust analytics, we gain valuable insights into user behavior.

To protect your information, we employ a secure authentication process and continuous performance monitoring, ensuring a smooth and secure app experience. While we prioritize data security and app functionality, there are occasions when sharing Personal Data is necessary to provide specific services. This is done with due consideration of your usage patterns and is in strict compliance with legal, regulatory and security obligations, upheld through stringent authorization and privacy protocols.

 

Sharing Your Information

  • For ‘My World & Discount’ (Golootlo), we share location details (longitude and latitude) with third-party providers to offer nowcast details. Unique user identifiers (non-MSISDN) are also shared for user profiling and to tailor customized services.
  • We employ third-party analytics tools like Google Firebase and Mixpanel for event logging, sharing information such as device details, app versions, balance/bill information, and device activity over time.
  • To gauge the effectiveness of our digital marketing campaigns, we track user conversion events to understand customer acquisitions using Meta and Tiktok software development tools.
  • Our integration with Google Mobile Ads allows us to display personalized ads to users based on their online usage patterns. Simosa does not share any user information; we merely present ads recommended by Google.
  • We share your MSISDN with insurance partners but only after obtaining your explicit consent.

Data Retention

Our data retention practices are as follows:

  • Financial transaction data is preserved by the third party for a period of 15 days.
  • Non-financial activity data, including user actions, is retained by the third party for 3 days.
  • The data warehouse holds all data, both financial and non-financial, for a span of 6 months.
  • Data stored in Mixpanel/Firebase, which serves as our analytics platform, is retained indefinitely.
  • The profile data of a user (whether that be a voluntary profile picture upload or date of birth addition) remains in the system forever.

We manage the retention of your personal data in strict compliance with relevant data retention
legislation, ensuring your privacy while fulfilling regulatory requirements.

 

Cookies and Tracking Technologies

We use advertiser IDs in the SIMOSA mobile application for tracking. Users agree to the terms and conditions and consent to the use of their data, provided it is not shared outside of affiliated group companies.

 

Handling Data Breaches

We have automated application alerts and comprehensive data security policies in place for a prompt response to any breaches.

 

Consent and Opt-Out of Data Processing

You can choose to uninstall the SIMOSA App and your data will be purged as per our data retention policy.
